The Road to Paris
The road to Paris starts this weekend with a 400km nonstop endurance ride in the Scottish Borders to be completed in 27hours, this is just the registration ride for the PBP, once complete, I then have to undertake a series of qualifying rides in early 2019 riding no less than a 200km, 300km, 400km and a final 600km and only on successfully completion of the qualifying rides then take on the main 1200km event to be complete unsupported in 84 hours in August 2019.
The Paris-Brest- Paris is a long distance cycling event starting from the national Velodrome in Saint Quentin en Yvelines Paris out West to Brest and back again. It is one of the oldest cycling events still regularly run.
The ride which originally started as a race in 1891 which proved such a success has now turned into one of the most famous rides in the world for the amateur rider. Further information on the history of the ride can be found on the link.
I have been a keen cyclist for many years now but never taken on such an epic event such as the PBP. Starkold have organised many charity cycling events over the last fifteen years or so and in doing so raising valuable funds for the charities we continue to support.
I am looking to raise a huge amount of funds for the above three charities, you can sponsor me through our website: http://www.starkold.co.uk/charitiesere where you can you can choose the relevant link. It would also be fantastic if anyone would like to join me on either a training ride or indeed a qualifying ride.
If you would like to take part, please get in contact with Darren Grooms.
